Civic Recreation Complex Renewal

Overview

The Civic Recreation Complex has received government infrastructure funding for the modernization and expansion of the facility. This project is intended to be completed by September 2011 and includes:

  • Replacing the Civic Auditorium Arena with an indoor multi-purpose field house that has an international size artificial turf playing surface;
  • A new outdoor artificial turf lighted playing field; and,
  • A reconstructed parking lot.

The Civic Recreation Complex Renewal Project is being funded by the federal and provincial governments under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund. The federal and provincial governments will each contribute $6,483,333, with the City of Oshawa contributing the balance of the project costs.

  • Replacing the natural grass turf on Civic Fields Stadium field with artificial turf playing surface;
  • Replacing the existing running track with a higher quality rubberized track surface;
  • Replacing the Stadium's field lighting, fencing, sound system and expanding parking; and
  • Upgrading the Stadium.

This funding is being provided by the federal government under the Community Adjustment Fund.  The federal government will contribute $2,119,500 with the City of Oshawa contributing the balance of the project costs.

  • Gibb Street Entrance Drive Rehabilitation - September 2010 to December 2010
