Corporate Services Department
Human Resource Services provides guidance and direction to staff of the Corporation on human resource matters. The branch is also responsible for managing the labour relations function in a unionised environment, including negotiating and administering four Collective Agreements.
Human Resource Services provides the following services to the corporation, its elected officials, managers and employees:
- Coordinate employment and recruiting activities;
- Coordinate occupational health and safety matters and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims management;
- Administer employee pension programs;
- Administer job evaluation, pay equity and compensation systems;
- Assist with the administrataion of the benefit program in conjunction with Finance Services;
- Assist in grievance/arbitration matters;
- Assist with the Corporate Attendance and Performance Management programs;
- Assist with organizational development and staff planning;
- Offer advice on human relations issues;
- Create and maintain corporate policies pertaining to various human resources matters, such as harassment, health and safety, employment equity, etc.;
- Coordinate the implementation of human resource legislative changes; and
- Provide management training and consulting services.
