Information Technology Services (ITS)

The ITS Branch has an approved complement of 20 full-time staff. The Administration Section, through the Director, is accountable for the overall management of the Branch including application development and support, centralised and decentralised computer operations, telecommunications, applications and user support, geographic information systems support and website support.

The Applications Support Section is responsible for analysing, developing, maintaining and supporting computer solutions for the entire organization including internet and website initiatives. In addition, staff assist in the research and implementation of appropriate packaged software and provide software support to the network environment.

The Operations Support Section is responsible for the provision of day-to-day support to the technology users ensuring maximum availability of hardware and software. This group has front-line responsibility for the PC Hotline. Telecommunications services, including both voice and data communications, are also provided through the Operations group. The voice communications cover the telephone equipment, voice mail, long distance charges and any telephone installations, relocates and repairs. Data communications would include the data links between City Hall and each satellite office on the corporate network.
