City of Oshawa City Council Historical Record
The following is the historical record of past Councils for the City of Oshawa.
You will note over the years various offices and titles were used in the composition of City Council. The title of "Mayor" has always been used, however the terms "Councillor" and "Alderman" are interchangeable. From 1967 to 1973, City Council consisted of three different offices being Mayor, Controller and Alderman. Controllers had a dual role; that being one of Alderman and also as a member of the Board of Control. In 1974 the office of Controller was eliminated. In 1989, the term "Councillor" replaced the term "Alderman".
