Recreation & Culture Services
The Recreation & Culture Services Branch is responsible for the provision of recreation, leisure and cultural opportunities that contribute to healthy communities and engaged citizens. This includes planning and delivery of recreation and culture programs, community events, the promotion and operation of recreation facilities and community centres and delivering leisure services and programs.
Programs and Facilities
The Programs and Facilities Division is responsible for:
The management of fitness and leisure programs (arts, drama, dance and music) and facility operations for the Civic Recreation Complex, South Oshawa Community Centre, Arts Resource Centre, Northview Community Centre, Harman Park Arena, Children's Arena and the Memorial Park Band Shell.
The management of general interest, sports and aquatics programs and facility operations for the Legends Centre, Donevan Recreation Complex and Columbus Community Centre.
Centralized Recreation Services
This Division is responsible for promotion and co-ordination of special events such as Canada Day, Christmas Tree Lighting, Oshawa Celebrates and the City's award winning programs such as Communities in Bloom and Festive Lighting Program.
This Division is responsible for research and trends analysis for recreation programs, community outreach and engagement activities, volunteer management, facility booking, program registration and memberships.
