Welcome to Downtown Oshawa
There's always something fun happening in Downtown Oshawa. From unique shopping to fine dining, from family activities to special events, there are over 150 businesses and services offered here. It's all within walking distance of our historic four corners at King and Simcoe Streets.
Visit the Oshawa Public Library and McLaughlin Art Gallery. Stroll through our wonderful downtown parks and floral displays. Enjoy a coffee at one of our numerous cafes. Visit the Canadian Automotive Museum and discover classic cars from a bygone era.
There's plenty of parking throughout the downtown, from on-street parking to the parkades, there are hundreds of places to park. Don't forget to ask for your free parking tokens at participating businesses. Each token is good for a half-hour of free parking and parking is free every staurday and sunday.
Annual Events
The Original Downtown Sidewalk Sale - July
It all starts here, when friendly businesses display the wares, and bargain-hunters enjoy the savings. Everyone in the family eagerly anticipates this annual event. Oshawa's original sidewalk sale features activities for the kids, great food and live music.
Jazz and Blues Festival - August
The Downtown Action Committee and Eclipse Concerts have teamed up to create a special feature for Summer In The City: the outdoor Jazz and Blues Festival. The event features live showcases in various Downtown Oshawa venues. To finish off the festival, a top touring act is featured as the main attraction in the Bandshell at Memorial Park.
Festival of Murals
Downtown Oshawa displays various murals, painted by top Canadian artists, which help celebrate our history, our culture, and our people, from the famous Oshawa Generals to Northern Dancer. Take a self-guided walking tour with the aid of our Mural Brochures, informing visitors of the location and theme of each mural. Brochures may be picked up at the Downtown Oshawa Board of Management Office or the Tourist Information Centre.
Autofest Kick-Off - August
Both King and Simcoe Streets in the downtown area are closed for the event and over 200 classic vehicles are parked and displayed as the Autofest Kick-Off begins the weekend with a Downtown Oshawa cruise-in and live concert featuring music of the 50's and 60's. In 2002, downtown shops featured a day-long sidewalk sale and stayed open for a moonlight madness sale for a fun evening the whole family could enjoy. Autofest continues on Saturday with a "Soapbox Derby" and on Sunday with the "Show and Shine" at Lakeview Park.
Downtown Oshawa, everything's here for you!
