Healthy Kids Community Challenge Oshawa encourages families throughout Oshawa to celebrate Family Day together! Healthy Kids Community Challenge Oshawa is hosting a variety of activities, free of charge, at four facilities across Oshawa (South Oshawa Community Centre, Legends Centre, Boys & Girls Club of Durham Region and Y.M.C.A.) so that families can enjoy one another’s company in an active and engaging environment.
“Family Day is about spending quality time with family and friends,” said Oshawa Mayor John Henry. “This year, enjoy time together while staying active and learning about healthy lifestyles. The Healthy Kids Community Challenge Oshawa has a great line-up of activities throughout our city to make that possible.”
Available activities include:
- “Learn to Geocache” with Healthy Kids Community Challenge Oshawa: learn how to geocache using the City’s GPS systems, and then head outside to practice finding some hidden caches that may include a surprise inside!
- Public Swimming: (pool admission policies will apply; please bring swim test cards)
- Public Skating (leisure skating rules apply): Skate in the presence of Oshawa’s own Healthy Kids Community Champion and figure skating sensation, Emma Cullen, who will open the skating by performing a short figure skating program!
“The first HKCC Family Day last year was a blast with activities for the whole family and this year's program looks even better,” said Councillor Bob Chapman, Chair of the Community Services Committee. “So if you're looking for a fun way to celebrate Family Day and keep everyone active join the H.K.C.C. at one of the four locations.”
Residents are encouraged to visit the Healthy Kids Community Challenge Oshawa webpage for full details, event timing and locations. At the same site, families can learn more about the Healthy Kids Community Challenge and how to get involved.
