Taxicab Licensing
Applications for Taxicab Driver's Licences, Taxicab Vehicle Owner Licences and Taxicab Broker Licences may be obtained Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Taxicab Driver's Licence applicants must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid Ontario Driver's Licence. Taxicab Vehicle Owner Licences are issued to persons listed on the Plate Issuance Eligibility List. To have your name added to the PIEL, you must fill out an application for a Taxicab Vehicle Owner Licence and prove eligibility. Taxicab Broker Licences are issued to persons or companies prepared to operate licensed taxicab vehicles.
Prior to issuance of any licence, the applicant must obtain a Criminal Information Request Form (CIR) from the any Police Service in Ontario. The applicant is required to state on the form the purpose for this request. If any charges or convictions appear on the CIR, the application will be subject to review and the licence may not be issued immediately.
