Oshawa Tourist Information Centre

Oshawa Tourist Information CentreThe Oshawa Tourist Information Centre is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., seven days a week, from the Victoria Day weekend in May to Thanksgiving Day in October.

The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce staffs and manages the Oshawa Tourist Information Centre (TIC) for the City of Oshawa and takes great pride in its role as host to the multitude of visitors seeking tourism information and travel advice.

Oshawa Tourist Information CentreThe TIC opened in June 1995 to address the heavy demand for information during peak travel months. The number of visitors making use of the centre has increased each year and, in 2001, the TIC hosted over 10,000 travellers who stopped to rest, use the picnic and washroom facilities and obtain maps and brochures for local attractions and activities. The TIC is totally handicapped accessible.

Accessibility is a big factor in the TIC's popularity. Located at the Simcoe Street exit from Highway 401 at the northeast corner of Bloor Street East and Simcoe Street South, the TIC is only moments from the highway. The large parking lot is ideal for parking trailers, campers and mobile homes while travellers enjoy a picnic lunch on the well-landscaped grounds. The TIC has information brochures, guides and maps describing local, regional and provincial tourist destinations and accommodations.

The most visible indication of the TIC's success and the most gratifying in terms of visitor recognition is the guest book, which indicates how highly visitors regard Oshawa and its tourist attractions. Visitors to our fair city come from distant places such as England and Germany, as well as from across Canada and the United States.
On behalf of the City of Oshawa and the business community it represents, the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce, through the TIC, creates and maintains "top of mind" awareness with the travelling public, reinforces positive visitor experiences, promotes Oshawa as an excellent place to live and visit, promotes and highlights our unique cultural attributes and heritage assets, and displays our unparalleled civic pride. The TIC staff are some of Oshawa's finest ambassadors to tourists from around the world!
