The City of Oshawa and Trent University have created a dedicated endowment fund to provide support to Oshawa students attending the University’s Durham GTA campus.
Beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year, the City of Oshawa Student Bursaries Endowment Fund will support students who reside in Oshawa, are enrolled at Trent University Durham GTA and have demonstrated socio-economic need.

More Oshawa restaurants and bars have been able to enjoy the warm weather this summer with the help of the City’s expedited temporary patio programs. The programs allow food and drink establishments to expand outside of their four walls, or their existing patio, to reintroduce out-of-home dining to the city’s residents.

Since declaring a climate emergency on January 29, Durham Region has taken important steps to accelerate the transition towards a low-carbon, climate-resilient community.
Durham Regional Council recently approved projects for corporate and community-wide climate solutions that will support efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs while creating local jobs and attracting private sector investment in the low carbon economy.

Year-to-date construction value issued in Oshawa has already exceeded 2019’s total construction value by $8 million, with the City of Oshawa setting yet another building record last month: the highest June for industrial permit value ($62.93 million) since 1986 ($16.47 million).
Four major projects issued in June 2020 contributed to these milestones:
