The Special Meeting of Council previously scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 has been cancelled in response to COVID-19. The meeting will be rescheduled and delegation details will be shared at that time. Paper versions of the feedback form will be available at Service Oshawa upon the reopening of City Hall to the public.

Location of Rainbow Crosswalk available for public input

The City of Oshawa is looking for feedback from the community on the location of a Rainbow Crosswalk in Oshawa.
Thethree locationsbeing considered for the Rainbow Crosswalk are:
- Option A – main entrance to City Hall: the pedestrian crosswalk that is adjacent to the main entrance to City Hall and The Robert McLaughlin Art Gallery.

Durham Region is developing a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWP), as required by the new legislative amendments to the Police Services Act. This will be undertaken in a collaborative manner with Durham Regional Police Service, a steering committee, community partners and members of the public.

Oshawa Fire Services reminds community members to replace the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms when they change their clocks and spring forward this weekend.
Daylight saving time starts at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 8 when clocks are set ahead one hour and is an important reminder for everyone to try to make a difference in preventing household fires.

Winter waste reminders

The City of Oshawa reminds community members that snowbanks, icy conditions and winter weather can make it difficult for waste collection operators to see and safely reach your garbage, green bin and recycling.
Please keep these reminders in mind when placing waste at the curb:
- Choose and maintain a collection area that is visible and at ground level.
- Do not place collectables on top of snow banks or on the road.
