With the anticipated further easing of public health measures by the Province of Ontario on March 1, 2022, the City of Oshawa is adjusting health and safety measures at City recreation facilities and for City recreation programs.
As of Tuesday, March 1, 2022, the following will come into effect (please be advised that any adjustments to government orders or public health measures may result in changes to the below information):
Proof of vaccination
Community members will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination when entering City recreation facilities.
Advance bookings
Advance bookings for fitness centres, indoor tracks, leisure skating, shinny hockey, leisure swimming, pickleball and preschool drop-in bookings will no longer be required as a result of expanded capacity limits for these activities. Schedules for these activities will remain as currently noted on the Book Your Next visit section of the activeOshawa Online Registration website from March 1 to 11, 2022. Community members are able to book their next visit for these activities in advance until March 1, 2022.
Advance bookings for badminton, basketball, soccer, and tennis and squash courts continue to be required. Community members are encouraged to book these activities online at Register.Oshawa.ca or by calling 905-436-3311.
Additional information
City staff are working diligently to prepare for the changes to programs, services, and facilities as part of this next phase of reopening. City webpages will be updated over the coming days with the most up to date information regarding these adjustments to COVID-19 health and safety measures.
Community members will be required to complete COVID-19 screening, practice physical distancing, and wear a mask or face-covering (with the exception of those who have health, respiratory and sensory issues, various disabilities; are unable to remove the mask without assistance; and children under the age of two; or for religious reasons) when visiting a City recreation facility. Masks may be removed while participating in certain activities.
