The City of Oshawa supports various boards and committees in the City.
Citizen appointments are made upon the election of a new council. Any vacancies occurring throughout Council's term are advertised on the City's website under News and Alerts and in Oshawa This Week and the Oshawa Express newspapers and through the City’s social media accounts. In addition, the City reaches out to community organizations and partners to promote vacancies.
To volunteer on one of these boards and committees, please submit a completed application to City Clerk Services. The City’s board and committee members are recruited and selected on the basis of merit and where required, specific representational requirements. The City seeks to reflect diversity on its boards and committees which enhances representation and enriches decision making. In order to monitor the progress towards diversity represented on its boards and committees, applicants are encouraged to complete a confidential, Voluntary Diversity Questionnaire. The Questionnaire is used by the City to determine progress towards diverse representation on boards and committees, and to help inform recruitment and inclusion strategies. The Questionnaire complements the City’s broader diversity and inclusion efforts, as identified in its Diversity and Inclusion Plan.
