Oshawa has a strong tradition of community participation, regularly sharing information and consulting on specific projects. This tradition is more important now than ever.
Our residents want to be informed of and engaged with all aspects of the City, and we could not be happier. As a result, Oshawa's Strategic Plan identifies the importance of public involvement in decision-making and seeking feedback about City services and programs.
Canadians are increasing their involvement in online social networking with friends, family and business, and their expectations to interact with government and participate in decision-making online continue to grow. The City recognizes that the Oshawa community is no different, and is excited to launch the new online community engagement website, Connect Oshawa.
The introduction of Connect Oshawa will improve the community engagement opportunities by allowing the City to share new programs, policies and initiatives, in addition to seeking feedback from residents and stakeholders when its convenient for them.
These new online tools will be used in addition to the traditional in-person community engagement methods already in use to ensure meaningful two-way dialogue between residents, stakeholders, and the City on major projects.
Connect Oshawa is mobile-friendly and features a wide-range of new and innovative online engagement tools. In 2017, the site has been awarded a gold Hermes Creative Award and the IABC Toronto OVATION Award of Excellence.
It's time to connect; let's shape Oshawa together. Visit Connect Oshawa today.
Be sure to stay tuned; we will be launching new initiatives in the near future for you to discuss and engage with other residents online. Until then, we invite you to get involved in this great city.
