Help Shape Oshawa's 100th Anniversary - City launches recruitment process for Community Centennial Committee
In preparation for the 100th Anniversary of Oshawa in 2024, the City of Oshawa is looking to recruit community members for a Community Centennial Committee to work with City staff to develop a 100th anniversary program.
In support of Culture Counts: Oshawa’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Plan, this committee will support the strategy of “Conserve and Celebrate Oshawa’s Rich History and Heritage,” as well as the action item to “plan a coordinated approach to celebrating significant upcoming anniversaries.” Over the next five years, the Community Centennial Committee will serve as the community table at which local leaders and organizations will provide input, collaborate, plan and execute events, activities and initiatives that will take place in 2024.
The committee is looking for leaders, innovators and staff from cultural and community organizations, as well as citizen members seeking to contribute to the development and implementation of engagement opportunities to recognize this milestone. Applicants who are interested in donating their skills and time will be considered based on their work and volunteer experience, availability, academic qualifications, demonstrated expertise and interest in heritage. Residents of all ages are encouraged to apply.
Additional information and application forms for the Community Centennial Committee are available at www.Oshawa.ca/Oshawa100, and the deadline for applications is January 24, 2020. Parties and individuals interested in applying must have an Oshawa address.
