Winter waste reminders
The City of Oshawa reminds community members that snowbanks, icy conditions and winter weather can make it difficult for waste collection operators to see and safely reach your garbage, green bin and recycling.
Please keep these reminders in mind when placing waste at the curb:
- Choose and maintain a collection area that is visible and at ground level.
- Do not place collectables on top of snow banks or on the road.
- Keep a path from the road to your collectibles clear of snow and ice.
- Ensure green bins, blue boxes and waste collectibles are visible.
During and after a snow event, please follow these additional reminders:
- Avoid placing materials at the curb the night before when it is harder for plow operators to see green and blue box bins and waste.
- To reduce the height of snow banks, shovel snow further back on your property to improve visibility.
