The state of emergency in the City of Oshawa related to the COVID-19 pandemic is lifted effective 9 p.m. on Monday, March 28. The decision to lift the state of emergency was in consultation with the Municipal Control Group under the City’s Emergency Management By-law. In addition, the Region of Durham and Durham municipalities have also lifted their respective state of emergencies. Learn more
Visitors can choose whether they want to wear a mask indoors in City facilities. Please respect everyone’s personal choice; any harassment or abuse toward a staff member or visitor will not be tolerated.
Visitors are still required to adhere to posted signage and self-screen prior to entering City facilities. Health and safety protocols remain in place, including enhanced cleaning and disinfecting and physical barriers like plexiglass dividers.

The Animal Shelter is open to in-person operating hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Adoption hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. only. No appointment is required. Animals adopted through Oshawa Animal Services include spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, microchipping, rabies vaccine and four weeks pet insurance. The lost/found services process includes the submission of a lost pet form, Oshawa Animal Services staff contacting the owner and the arrangement of safe drop off and pick up by a vaccinated individual and secure online payment.
