- About: PFLAG Canada – Durham ON was formed in Oshawa, Ontario, in 2003, through the work of Durham residents, Francine Doucette and Lindsey Clarke. Francine and Lindsey had the passion for helping other families to understand and to accept as Francine’s son, who was Lindsey’s best friend, had recently come out. Francine and Lindsey connected with other PFLAG Chapters such as PFLAG Toronto to get the information and guidance needed. Later they became a Chapter of PFLAG Canada when the national organization was formed.
PFLAG supports all persons within our reach, with their journeys through gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation. We seek to provide education and resources to the greater Durham community to help encourage inclusion, diversity and equity.
Pride is back in person. There are several events where to celebrate Pride in Oshawa and Durham region in June 2022, please see the Newsletter for more information.

- About: Pride Durham plays an important role in the social aspect of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. We are not just a standard event planning organization; we use social programming as a platform to create dialogue, real-life experiences, and meaningful connections between 2SLGBTQ+ members of the community, friends, families, and workplaces. We aim to create a place for important conversations to begin. We are the forefront of many people’s journeys in regard to gender, sexual orientations, and identities. We are sometimes the family for those who do not have the privilege to have close connections at home; and at other times, we are the event that gives someone the opportunity to fully express themselves without discrimination or restrictions. In a world full of barriers and challenges, we must stick together and be passionate for change, growth and harmony. By supporting our organization, you are taking a step toward progressively changing the environment for a better and brighter future in Durham Region.
