Enjoy a family outing and cool down with the kids at one of the City of Oshawa's splash pads. Our splash pads are open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with hours extended until dusk during a heat event. Splash pads will close for the season on Monday, September 5, 2022.
City staff will monitor activity on a rotating basis at splash pads and will clean and disinfect.

Cover up |
Shirts, hats, shorts and pants hide your skin from the sun's rays. |
Get shady |
If you can't find a shady area, make your own. Bring a sun umbrella or canopy for outdoor trips. Carry a small rain umbrella for walking. Always keep infants in the shade - their skin is more prone to sun damage. |
Avoid peak hours |
Plan outings before 11:00 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m. when the sun is less likely to burn. |
Protect your eyes |
Sunglasses with both U.V.A. and U.V.B. filters help protect your eyes from harmful radiation that can cause cataracts. |
Read the label |
Make sure your sunscreen provides wide range protection, including both U.V.A. and U.V.B. Pick a product based on your own skin, time planned outside, shade and cloud cover. Stick to S.P.F. 15-50+ and reapply often. |
Heat waves |
During a heat wave, everyone is at risk. Extreme heat can be particularly dangerous for children, the elderly or people who are ill. In Ontario during the summer months, there is the added threat of poor air quality. On days when the temperature reaches 30 degrees Celsius or above at 4:00 p.m. or when heat alerts are issued, the City may extend its outdoor pool and splash pad hours and lifeguard supervision at Lakeview Park beach. Stay up-to-date on these notifications with News & Alerts. |
