Changes at City recreation facilities
As of Monday, March 21, 2022:
In response to the Province of Ontario taking additional steps to ease public health measures, the City of Oshawa has lifted all mask mandates at its facilities.
City staff and visitors can choose whether they want to wear a mask indoors in City facilities. Community members and visitors are asked to respect everyone’s personal choice; any harassment or abuse toward a staff member or visitor will not be tolerated.

We have taken enhanced health and safety measures to protect our recreation facility guests. However, there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are, or have been present.
COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to Public Health Authorities, older adults and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.
By entering the facility, you accept and voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19, and the City of Oshawa disclaims any and all related liability.

COVID-19 self-screening questions
The safety, health and well-being of our employees and community members is our top priority. This self-screening questionnaire is meant to keep everyone healthy and must be reviewed prior to entering a City recreation facility. It is only a basic checklist and not meant to take the place of medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
Please read the following questions. If you answer "Yes" to any of the below, please do not enter the facility.
- In the last 5 days, have you experienced any of these symptoms?
- Fever and/or chills
- Cough or barking cough (croup)
- Shortness of breath
- Decrease or loss of taste or smell
- Muscle aches/joint pain
- Extreme tiredness
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy/congested nose
- Headache
- Nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea
- Has a doctor, health care provider, or public health unit told you that you should currently be isolating (staying at home)?
- In the last 5 days, have you tested positive for COVID-19? This includes a positive COVID-19 test result on lab-based PCR test, rapid molecular test, rapid antigen test, or home-based self-testing kit.
- Do any of the following apply to you? You may answer no if you completed your isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days (using a rapid antigen, rapid molecular, or PCR test).
- You live with someone who is currently isolating because of a positive COVID-19 test.
- You live with someone who is currently isolating because of COVID-19 symptoms.
- You live with someone who is waiting for COVID-19 test results.
- In the last 5 days, you have you been identified as a “close contact” of someone who currently has COVID-19 and you are not fully vaccinated or you are immunocompromised. You may answer no if any of the following apply:
- You are fully vaccinated, not immunocompromised, and do not live with the per who have COVID-19, and/or you completed your isolation after testing positive in the last 90 days (using a rapid antigen, rapid molecular, or PCR test).
If you answer yes to any of the above questions, please do not visit a City recreation facility and contact either your health care provider or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 to get advice or an assessment.
Activities, schedules and bookings:
Select a below activity for additional information including applicable schedules and booking options.
Advance booking is not required for fitness centres, indoor tracks, leisure skating, shinny hockey, leisure swimming, pickleball and preschool drop-in bookings. Please arrive at the recreation facility during the scheduled time of the activity and pay applicable admission fees at the reception desk.
Advance booking remains available for badminton, basketball, soccer, and tennis and squash courts. Complete your booking through activeOshawa Online or by calling 905-436-3311. Follow the below steps when completing an online booking:

- Visit the activity schedules section of activeOshawa Online.
- Select your preferred booking type.
- Select your preferred date, time, and location.
- Select Book Now.
- Review the bookings and the corresponding details that have been added to your checkout. Select checkout to finalize your bookings, or continue shopping to add additional family members or more bookings.
- Note: There is a limit of one booking per day per person for each booking type.
Create a booking for a family member:
- Confirm the family members is listed in your families and groups.
- Select the preferred booking type.
- Select the family member from the participant menu and select Go.
- Once the webpage has reloaded, and the participant you are booking is selected in the participant menu select the preferred date, time, and location.
- Review the bookings and the corresponding details that have been added to your checkout. Select checkout to finalize your bookings, or continue shopping to add additional family members or more bookings.

- Advance booking for indoor tennis and squash courts:
- Oshawa residents with an active All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on have ten (10) days advance booking privileges by phone. Ten days advance booking is not available through activeOshawa Online; please call the City at 905-436-3311 to complete your booking.
- Non-residents with an active All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on have seven (7) days advance booking privileges online.
- Oshawa residents without an All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on have three (3) days advance booking privileges by phone. Three days advance booking is not available through activeOshawa Online; please call the City at 905-436-3311 to complete your booking.
- Non-residents without an All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on have one (1) day advance booking privileges bookings online.
- Advance booking for badminton, basketball, and soccer:
- Community members with an active fitness membership have seven (7) days advance booking privileges. Community members without a fitness membership are able to book one (1) day in advance. This excludes prime-time soccer bookings which are available for one (1) day advance booking despite membership status.

If you are unable to attend your scheduled booking, please call 905-436-3311 to cancel your booking. If notice of your cancellation is not received 24 hours before your scheduled booking any fees paid are non-refundable. See additional details about racquet sport court cancellations.
- Community members will be charged regular admission fees for bookings completed online. If you qualify for a student, family or senior price please visit the reception desk upon your arrival to have your fee adjusted.
