100+ Anniversary
On Friday, March 8, the City of Oshawa celebrated its 100th anniversary as a City. We invite community members to join us as we mark this special occasion with a series of events, activities and commemorative projects over the course of the year.

The official 100+ anniversary celebration was held at the Regent Theatre in Downtown Oshawa.
Upcoming Centennial Environmental Workshops
In partnership with Durham Master Gardeners, the City of Oshawa present a series of free virtual and in-person workshops for the public to learn and enjoy. Registration is required.
In-Person Workshops at Arts Resource Centre
- April 27: Gardening for Pollinators In-Person Workshop - 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- May 23: Raising Monarch Butterflies In-Person Workshop - 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Centennial Commemorative Art Projects and Initiatives
To commemorate this milestone year, the City has created a variety of commemorative art and legacy projects including a collectable booklet, centennial pin, public art installations as well as education partnerships and a community grant program. Saturday, May 4 This free province-wide event allows visitors to see various historical and interesting sites throughout Oshawa to learn more about where we live and play. |
May 4 - Pollinator Planting |
Join LEAF, a non-profit organization, in the planting of native pollinator species at Gold Point Wildlife Reserve, located within the Gold Point Coastal Provincially Significant Wetland, to support pollinator health and biodiversity. Help create a sustainable ecosystem for generations to come.

Held at the South Oshawa Community Centre, Public Art in Oshawa will feature artist talks that inspire community engagement while spotlighting local artists. Explore the intersection of creativity and community as we showcase the diverse talents that contribute to public art in our city. |

June 8 and 9 - Peony Festival |
Join us for this award-winning event showcasing Oshawa's prized collection of Peony's, a judged peony flower show, entertainment, market vendors, will return to the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens and Children's Arena. |
July 1 - Canada Day |
Join us for a celebration at Lakeview Park, live entertainment, children's stage and a spectacular firework display at 10 p.m. |

Free concerts and movies at Memorial Park Bandshell and Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park. |
July 13 - Tree Tour |
Explore the beauty of Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens and enhance your tree identification skills with a guided walk. Join LEAF, a non-profit organization, for a free tree tour of the Gardens. After the tour, use our self-guided activity sheet to explore further. |
August 23 - Kars on King |
Kars on King
Hundreds of classic vehicles, live entertainment, children's activities and more will descend on downtown Oshawa, around Simcoe St. and King St. |
September 29 - Tree Planting |
Join us in our efforts to expand the City's tree canopy and support the restoration of Gold Point Wildlife Reserve. Our restoration plantings aim to improve and expand the migratory butterfly stopover and preserve significant wildlife habitat. More details to come. |
October 5 - Culture Days |
A national celebration of arts and culture, inviting the public to get behind the scenes and hands on arts and culture in our community. |
November 15 - Bright and Merry Market |
A celebration of the festive season including our annual tree lighting, homemade vendor's market, food vendors, live entertainment and more in downtown Oshawa from Centre St. S. to Memorial Park. |
December 31 - Oshawa Celebrates |
Celebrating the New Year with swimming, skating and family fun at the Delpark Homes Centre. |

Community Centennial Committee
The Community Centennial Committee serves as the community at the table with City Staff. It includes local leaders and organizations who provide input, collaboration and planning, for the projects and initiatives that take place in 2024.
