*Please note:  The Peony Flower Show/Competition in the arena opens to the public at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 once judging has been completed.

Flower Show and Competition

The Canadian Peony Society - Ontario Region hosts their Peony Competition/Show during the Peony Festival. They are an integral part of the festival. 

They welcome all entrants whether they are an individual gardener, a commercial grower or a botanical garden.

Parking

Parking at 155 Arena St. is for those holding a Ministry of Transportation issued accessibility parking pass. It must be prominently displayed so our attendants can provide access to the lot.

Off-site parking can be found at the following locations:

  • City Hall parking lot: 45 Queen St.
  • Lot 50: South of the Robert McLaughlin Gallery off of Queen St.
  • Parking Garage 2: 117 Bond St.
  • On-street parking where permitted by law
  • Grass lot: on the north side of Adelaide St. W. between Arena St. and Kaiser Cres.

No Parking - Local Traffic only:

There is no parking on the following streets during the festival:

  • Colborne St. between Gladstone Ave. and Arena St.
  • Gladstone Ave. from Arena St. to Colborne St. W.
  • Elgin St. W. from Arena St. to Warren Ave.

Shuttles

Save yourself time and hassle, park at one of our off-site parking locations and walk or take our free shuttle provided by OSCC+55. Pick up and drop off signs will be posted at the locations below:

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Children's Arena 155 Arena St. Peony Festival
  • Parkwood Estate **last pick up 4 p.m.**
  • Bond St. and MacMillan Dr. (north/west corner) across the street from Parking Garage 2

The contest opens Saturday, June 7 at 11:59 a.m. and closes Sunday, July 13 at 11:59 p.m., photos will be accepted through our online portal during this time.

Frequently asked questions:

Accessibility - parking, venue and shuttle
  • Parking at Children's Arena located at 155 Arena St. is for accessible permit holders only
  • Only those with an government issued accessible permit prominently displayed on their dashboard will be provided access to the lot at Children's Arena. This event is very busy and the lot fills quickly. We apologize if we are not able to accommodate you when you arrive.
  • The event venue is accessible, there are ramps to access the indoor flower show.
  • There are paved pathways throughout the park.
  • The pathways between the peony garden beds are grass but well packed.
  • The shuttle bus is not wheelchair accessible, it has handrails and a space for walkers, but riders must be able-bodied or have their own assistant.
Service animals and pets
Please keep in mind this event is extremely busy with guests, we welcome your furry friends as along as they are friendly, leashed and under the control of an adult at all times.
  • Service animals are welcome inside the arena and the outdoor event footprint.
  • Pets are welcome in the outdoor event footprint only.
  • All pets must be leashed and under the control of an adult at all times.
  • For the safety of all of our guests, please clean up after your pet/service animal.

Companion Event

The Matsuyama Bonsai Society are offering a free show and demonstration at Parkwood Estate, 270 Simcoe St. N., Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Peony Festival shuttle will make regular stops at Parkwood Estates throughout the day from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. (sharp).
