Teen and Youth Fitness Programs
The City of Oshawa offers options for teens and youth to get active. We offer Teen Weight Training and are a proud partner of the Grade 5 Action Pass.
Teen weight training
Build strength, boost confidence, and take your fitness to the next level with this dynamic program designed specifically for teens. Teen Weight Training focuses on developing muscular strength, endurance, and proper technique in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.
Participants will gain hands-on experience using fitness equipment, learn safe and effective training methods, and develop the skills needed to work out with confidence. The program also covers essential gym etiquette, helping teens feel comfortable and prepared every time they enter a fitness centre.
Youth ages 13–17 are required to register for and successfully complete the Teen Weight Training course to access City of Oshawa fitness centres. The course is free with a Level 2: Fitness Centre or Level 2: All Inclusive Membership.
Getting Started
Part 1: Review the Teen Weight Training Manual and successfully complete the quiz.
Part 2: Once you receive a passing grade on the quiz (70%), a fitness staff will contact you to schedule a practical assessment at a mutually convenient time with a certified personal trainer in one of the City of Oshawa fitness centres.
Both components must be successfully completed before access to the fitness centres is granted.
