The City of Oshawa has two great places for youth to hang out with friends, play video games, or do your homework. Come on down to the Rec Room or Youth Room!

The Rec Room

The Rec Room at the Civic Recreation Complex features table tennis and pool tables. Please note the Rec Room may be unavailable if the space is being used for meetings. Check with reception for availability, payment (included in memberships also) and equipment sign-out.

Monday to Friday: 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday: Closed.

Age requirements: Open to all ages (children ages eight and under must be accompanied by a guardian who is 14 years or older

 

Admission requirements:  Get full access to the Rec Room with your Fitness Membership or pay the daily admission fee

Youth Room

Welcome to the Youth Room at the South Oshawa Community Centre

During Youth Room hours, youth can enjoy a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space to hang out, meet new people, and take part in a variety of activities. Each day features a staff-led activity, along with drop-in amenities including: pool tables, air hockey, ping-pong, large screen TV, Xbox and Wii gaming systems.

Note: The Youth Room will reopen on September 8 following its summer closure.

Monday to Friday: 3:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Saturdays: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Open to ages 10 to 17

Visit the South Oshawa Community Centre and complete the Youth Room Membership Form to get full access to the Youth Room for only $12 per year.

September Youth Centre theme: Welcome, meet, mingle and connect! 

Come out for some friendly competition and a chance to earn bragging rights! Staff will lead a variety of fun tournaments and challenges, including video game tournaments, pool, foosball, and exciting Minute-to-Win-It style games. Whether you’re competing or just joining in for the fun, there’s something for everyone!

Join us for a night of hands-on activities to create, connect and use your imagination! Each week a new activity will be offered including arts & crafts, hair design, drawing, and guest speakers for try-it days.

Every Wednesday 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Join us for a night in the kitchen where you can learn new skills, try new recipes, and eat delicious food! Whether you’re a beginner or already enjoy cooking, this is a chance to share ideas and connect with others.

Drop-in activities will be available during cooking club. 

It's your night! Help decide what activities are happening. Whether you're looking to play games, get creative, active, or try something new, your ideas help shape the evening. Come share your suggestions, vote on activities, and enjoy a night that's planned by youth.

Run, deke, dribble and dunk. Get active and have fun while playing basketball. All equipment will be provided.   

Every Saturday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the SOCC gym. 

Come out, get active, and have some fun. Join us for a variety of recreational activities, including basketball, badminton, pickleball, dodgeball and more. Drop in, try something new, and enjoy an active evening with friends. 

The Youth Room will be open for regular drop-in activities. during sports programming.
