Recreation and Culture Services is excited to announce its Summer Camp program offerings for 2022. This summer sees the return of many of our most popular in-person summer camps including arts camp, dance camp, hockey camp, sport and swim camp.

Financial Assistance |
Assistance programs are available to Oshawa residents wishing to access camps. These include the Durham Region Social Services Certificate Program, Canadian Tire Jumpstart and the Recreation Fee Assistance Program. Learn more at Oshawa.ca/Subsidy. |
Cancellation and waitlists |
Register early to help ensure you will get your first choice of camps. If we do not have enough registrants for a camp, it will be cancelled. If a camp is cancelled, you will be contacted to help you choose a different camp (where space is available). If we cannot register you for another camp a full refund will be provided. If your preferred camp is full, we recommend being placed on the waitlist. If a space becomes available campers will be contacted in order of being placed on the waitlist and offered the available space. There is no charge for being added to the waitlist. If you are already registered in a camp and wish to transfer to the now available waitlisted camp you may do so for no additional charge. |

Camp staff are carefully selected based on their child care experience, leadership skills, enthusiasm and sound judgment. Qualifications include:

All parents/guardians picking up campers must have government-issued photo identification with them and be listed on the Camper Information Form with permission to sign-out the camper. Government-issued identification is required every time you pick up your camper.
Parents/guardians must complete all forms online the Thursday before camp starts.
The Emergency Contact and Consent Form is a mandatory form for all campers. If forms are not submitted online the Thursday before camp starts staff will not receive them in time. If staff do not receive the required forms before the first day of camp the camper will not be able to attend camp on the first day. In this situation, campers can attend camp the following day after staff receive the completed forms.

Attendance and absences |
Attendance is taken each day as campers arrive and leave. A parent or guardian is required to sign-in each camper at the designated camp location between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Campers must be picked up between 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Please notify camp staff if a camper needs to be picked up earlier. Parents or guardians are not permitted inside specified camp areas as per government orders. Please notify camp staff if your camper will not be attending the program. If a camper is absent or late and staff have not been notified, attempts will be made to contact the parent or guardian. What to bring to camp |
Each day, pack a nut-free lunch, snacks, drinks, reusable water bottle, indoor shoes, sunscreen, a change of clothes and appropriate outdoor weather clothing. Camps offering swimming, children should bring a labelled towel and bathing suit in a separate plastic bag. Children enrolled in preschool camps are expected to be toilet trained (no diapers). Please ensure that all items are clearly labelled with the camper’s name. Please leave toys, electronic devices and valuables at home. Camps are not responsible for lost or stolen items. |
Communication prior to camp |
Camp staff will call parents/guardians prior to their camper's first day at camp. Camp staff will also correspond with parents/guardians by email as much as possible. Please ensure staff have your most up-to-date email address on file. |
Extended supervision |
Most of our full-day camps offer extended supervision hours. You can register in advance for this care at an additional fee. |
Camp lunch program |
Camp lunches are available for an additional fee at some camps. More information will be emailed to you before your week at camp. Campers attending a camp at Delpark Homes Centre can register for a daily lunch program for an additional fee provided by Cashew and Clive. |
Swimming at camp |
Children 6 to 9 years of age who are non-swimmers must wear a lifejacket and must be accompanied by a camp counsellor who is responsible for their direct supervision, with a maximum of 4 children per counsellor. Children 7 to 9 years of age who are able to pass the facility swim test may be admitted to the pool unaccompanied by an adult or caregiver. If your child has already passed the swim test and received a swim test card, please bring it on the first day of camp. If your child is between the ages of 7 to 9 years, you can be proactive and get their swim test done prior to camp during select leisure swim at a City recreation facility. You can ask a lifeguard to test your child and obtain a card at the reception desk before you leave. For more information, visit Oshawa.ca/Swim. Children 10 years and older may be admitted to the pool unaccompanied. To go into the deep end, children must pass the swim test. Children who pass the swim test at camp can obtain the card at the reception desk at the end of the day. |
Medications |
Camp staff will hold prescription medication only as directed on the label, provided you sign the necessary forms. Campers will be required to administer the medication themselves. Complete the Medication Administration Request Form and submit by Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) the week prior to camp. If the form is submitted the weekend before camp starts staff will not receive it in time. If staff do not receive the required forms before the first day of camp, the camper will not be able to attend camp on the first day. In this situation, campers can attend camp the following day after staff receive the completed form. |
Anaphylaxis and EpiPens |
If a camper(s) requires an EpiPen, please indicate that on the Emergency Contact and Consent Form. Complete and submit the form by Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. (noon). If the form is submitted the weekend before camp starts staff will not receive it in time. If staff do not receive the required forms before the first day of camp, the camper will not be able to attend camp on the first day. In this situation, campers can attend camp the following day after staff receive the completed form. Campers who may require EpiPens are responsible for bringing two EpiPens to camp each day. The camper must carry one EpiPen in an easily identifiable waist pack. The second EpiPen will be stored by staff in a secured location in case of an emergency. EpiPens must be brought home each day. |
Inclusion support |
Campers requesting inclusion support must register for both the camp course ID and the Inclusion Services course ID. For more information, please visit the Inclusion Services page. |
Camper responsibilities |
All campers and staff are expected to do their part by showing respect for all people and property while attending City of Oshawa recreation facilities. Please report any incidents and concerns to staff. Coarse language, bullying, non-compliance, aggressive or inappropriate behaviour are not permitted at camp. These behaviours will be documented, reported and could result in the removal of a participant from camp. |
Camps will be planned in alignment with the Ministry of Health COVID-19 Safety Guidelines for Camp and Durham Regional Public Health guidelines. Communication will be sent if there are any changes to camp heath and safety guidelines. Any changes to this guidance may result in changes to camp offerings, protocols, services, and/or cancellations of programs/services with little notice.
