Advance booking is not required for leisure skating, stick and puck or shinny hockey. Please arrive at the facility during the scheduled time of the activity and pay applicable admissions fees at the reception desk.
While the City works to ensure schedules are offered as presented above, maintenance, weather and unforeseen incidents may result in schedules being adjusted. For the most up-to-date schedule information, visit activeOshawa Online.

Leisure skating descriptions
Adult skate
An open skate for community members 18 years of age and older.
Parent and tot skate
A slower-paced environment for young skaters 6 years and younger. An adult must provide constant, active, on ice supervision.
Public skate
An open skate for participants of all ages
Shinny hockey
Full hockey equipment is required, including CSA approved hockey helmet. Youth shinny participants (under 18 years) must wear a full face mask. Players must sign-in and pay at the reception desk before going on the ice and capacity limits are enforced
Stick and puck
This skate is intended for participants to practice passing and stickhandling. CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory for everyone; all skaters under 18 years must wear a full face mask. Game play and team practices are not permitted. Hockey nets, skating aids and other training equipment are not permitted. Skaters 6 years and younger must be accompanied and supervised on the ice by a parent/guardian; maximum of 3 children per parent/guardian. Capacity limits are enforced.
Leisure skating rules
General rules
- Respect and follow instructions from skate patrol and facility staff
- Report all accidents and injuries to skate patrol or facility staff
- Skaters 6 years and younger must be accompanied and supervised on the ice by a parent/guardian
- Skaters 6 years and younger must wear a CSA certified hockey helmet
- All skaters are strongly encouraged to wear a CSA certified hockey helmet
- Wait until the ice resurfacer is off the ice and the door is closed before going on the ice
- Capacity limits are enforced
The following are not permitted
- Shoes/Boots
- Food/Drinks
- Carrying children on the ice (including in a baby carrier/harness)
- Strollers (unless for accessibility purposes), chairs, sleds/toboggans
- Balls, pucks, pylons, sticks or any other items that can interfere with the safety of skaters
- Games, tag, rough play, figure skating moves, backward, erratic or excessive speed skating
The following applies to the use of skating aids, accessibility strollers, wheelchairs and ice sledges
- Accessibility strollers and wheelchairs are allowed on the ice as long as the wheels are clean; ice sledges are allowed on the ice
- Persons accompanying someone in an accessibility stroller, wheelchair or ice sledge must wear skates
- Skating aids are allowed in designated areas; bring your own
