Update Rose Valley Park debuts one of Canada’s largest BMX tracks

The City of Oshawa is proud to announce the opening of Rose Valley Community Park. On October 4, community members came together for the Grand Opening Celebration. Over 1,500 park enthusiasts enjoyed BMX demonstrations, pickleball workshops, the new extensive playground, face painting, a scavenger hunt and more.

Located at 1095 Thornton Rd. N. (between Rossland and Taunton Roads), this major new addition to Oshawa’s park system is now fully open and ready for the community to enjoy.

Rose Valley Community Park features a wide range of accessible amenities for all ages and interests, including:

• Two playground areas
• Pickleball courts
• Shaded seating areas
• Formal gardens
• Self-cleaning washroom facilities
• Passive walking paths and enhanced green space

Most notably, Rose Valley is now home to one of the largest BMX pump tracks in Canada and Ontario.

The park’s biking infrastructure includes:

• Asphalt pump tracks (3 combined): 290 metres
• Dirt BMX tracks (2 combined): 370 metres
• Mountain bike trails (2 combined): 950 metres

Rose Valley offers multiple track types for BMX, mountain biking, and recreational use, making it a unique destination for cycling enthusiasts of all levels.

About the Project

Construction of Rose Valley Community Park began in October 2023 and was completed in Fall 2025. The development project incorporated community engagement feedback.

Rose Valley Community Park is now a premier destination for outdoor recreation in Durham Region, combining active spaces with areas for relaxation, play, and connection.
