Veterans Walks installed at Memorial Park crosswalks

The City of Oshawa is proud to announce the installation of Veterans Crosswalks near Memorial Park, honouring Canada’s veterans.

Approved by City Council, the Veterans Crosswalks are in two key locations:

  • North-south crosswalk at Metcalfe St. and Simcoe St.
  • North-south crosswalk at John St. and Simcoe St.

Developed in consultation with the Royal Canadian Legion (Branches 43 and 637), the crosswalks are identified by red maple leaf stencils and signage. The crosswalks are a visual tribute to those who served and sacrificed for our country.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to take a moment when passing through these crosswalks to reflect and remember the contributions and sacrifices of our Veterans and the peace and liberty we enjoy today.

The timing of the new Veterans Walks and signs is particularly significant. City Council has proclaimed October 31 to November 11 as Poppy Week in Oshawa and The Royal Canadian Legion (Branches 43 and 637) will hold its annual Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, beginning at 10:45 a.m. at the Memorial Park Cenotaph.
