Winter Parking

Avoid parking fines - December 1 to April 1

Parking on the street is not allowed anytime during plowing and salting operations and will result in escalating fines. Additionally, from December 1 to April 1 there is no on-street parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Occasional Use Parking Permits (O.U.P.P.’s) are not valid during salting/snow clearing operations, and all previously arranged O.U.P.P.s are suspended during salting/snow clearing operations.

On street parking

Vehicles parked on the street can delay or prevent effective snow clearing operations. Snowplow operators try to plow all streets back to the curb, but any road obstruction, such as a parked vehicle, makes this impossible.

  • On street parking is not allowed on Oshawa streets between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., from December 1 to April 1, regardless of snow clearing operations or weather conditions.

Vehicles parked on-street which are interfering with snow clearing operations (at any time of day) will be subject to escalating tiered fines. The first offence is $60, the second offence is $80 and all offences thereafter is $100.

  • Occasional Use Parking Permits (O.U.P.P.’s) are not valid during salting/snow clearing operations, and all previously arranged O.U.P.P.s are suspended during salting/snow clearing operations.
  • On street parking is limited to three hours unless signed otherwise.

Snow pick up and removal in the downtown

Snow pickup and removal is sometimes required, when there has been a significant accumulation of snow downtown. During a snow pickup and removal operation, trucks collect and remove the snow from the boulevards.

To provide access to the boulevards, on street parking in the downtown core is not allowed after 10 p.m. Temporary signs will tell motorists that snow removal operations will be occurring and that parking is temporarily unavailable.

Please help us to keep Oshawa's streets clear and safe for everyone!
