Yes. Each member is required to sign a contract/waiver at the time of purchase. |
If I buy a membership on the 22nd of the month, is the fee for the first month pro-rated? |
A pro-rated payment for the remaining days in the month is due immediately if you plan to make pre-authorized monthly payments on a 6-month or 12-month membership. Payment for 1-month and 3-month memberships is required in full at the time of purchase. |
Does the City of Oshawa offer monthly payment options? What methods of payment are accepted? |
Monthly pre-authorized payment options are available for 6-month and 12-month memberships. Credit card (American Express, MasterCard, Visa) and electronic funds transfer (E.F.T.) payments are accepted. Monthly payment options are not available for 1-month and 3-month memberships. |
If my credit card or banking information changes, is there a minimum number of days notice required for the change? Can I provide the notification by phone or do I have to provide it in person? |
Pre-authorized payments are processed the first business day of the month. Visit one of the City of Oshawa's recreation facilities in person by the last business day of the month to advise your change in payment information for the following month's payment. You will be required to complete a pre-authorized membership payment information update form. |
If I buy a 6-month or 12-month membership on the 8th of the month, are my monthly pre-authorized payments due on the 8th of each month? |
A pro-rated payment is required upfront for the days between the 8th and the end of that month. Subsequent pre-authorized payments are processed on the first business day of each month for the term of your membership contract. |
I have purchased a membership and I am on a pre-authorized monthly payment plan. If fees increase within my membership term, do my monthly payments increase or do they remain the same? |
Monthly payments remain the same for the term of your contract. The new fee is applied upon renewal. |
If my pre-authorized monthly payment is declined or returned by the financial institution, will I incur a service charge? How do I provide my monthly payment? |
All electronic funds transfer (E.F.T.) payments returned by the bank are subject to a $40 service charge. There is no service charge from the City of Oshawa for declined credit card membership payments. Payment can be provided in person at one of the City of Oshawa's recreation facilities by cash, debit, or credit card (American Express, MasterCard, Visa). |
What happens if I have an outstanding balance on my account? |
Recreation and Culture Services will charge interest on balances 30 days overdue calculated from the invoice date. Interest at a rate of 1.25% monthly will be applied on the first day of each month until full payment is received. Payments must be received and processed by the due date in order to avoid interest charges. |
Is the expiry date of my membership based on the date of the purchase? For example, if I buy a 12-month membership on June 8, 2017, does it expire on June 30, 2018? |
The expiry date is one day prior to the anniversary date of purchase. In the example provided, the expiry date would be June 7, 2018. |
