Indoor tennis court rentals

Recreation Services operates and maintains indoor tennis courts at the Civic Recreation Complex.

Information

  • Community members are required to book indoor tennis courts in advance. View the tennis court schedule or book a court. Bookings are limited to one court per day, per person.
  • Community members cannot book courts on another's behalf. The individual booked on the court must be present at the time of play. If this individual cannot attend, they must cancel their booking as per the cancellation policy.
  • Players are to arrive in their match attire.
  • Players cannot enter the court until the start time of their court booking.
  • Players must leave the court area immediately after their session is complete.
  • Children 12 years and younger must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
  • The use of tennis ball machines (feeders) and ball baskets (hoppers) is prohibited. Players may have no more than six tennis balls on the court.

A Civic Dome closure may occur when inside temperatures exceed 30 °C. Please contact the Civic Recreation Complex for more information.

Book an indoor tennis court

  • Online at activeOshawa Online. The next calendar day for bookings becomes available at midnight (12 a.m.).
  • In person by visiting the Civic Recreation Complex starting from 6 a.m. on Monday to Friday or starting 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Over the phone by calling the Civic Recreation Complex starting 8:30 a.m. daily.

Advance booking details for residents and membership holders

Oshawa residents and community members with an active All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on have advance booking privileges for tennis court bookings. See below for details:

  • Oshawa community members with an active All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on have ten days advance booking privileges for tennis court bookings by phone. Ten day advance booking is not available through activeOshawa Online; please call the City at 905-436-3311 to complete your booking.
  • Non-residents with an active All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on have seven days of advance booking privileges for tennis court bookings online.
  • Residents without an All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on have three days advance booking privileges for tennis court bookings by phone. Three days advance booking is not available through activeOshawa Online; please call the City at 905-436-3311 to complete your booking.
  • Non-residents without an All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on have one day advance booking privileges for tennis court bookings online.

The member fee applies when all players have an active Level 2 – All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on. If one or more players does not have an active Level 2 – All Inclusive Membership or Racquet Sports Add-on the non-member fee applies. 

Cancellations

  • Booking cancellation requests require 24 hour notice to receive a full refund.
  • No shows and booking cancellation requests received with less than 24 hour notice will be charged a Court No Show Fee of $12.
  • There is no charge to reschedule within the same day if courts are available.
  •  You may call into any City of Oshawa facility to cancel bookings or can leave a voicemail at 905-436-3311 ext 2717 Civic Reception.

Indoor squash court rentals

Recreation Services operates and maintains two indoor squash courts at the Civic Recreation Complex.

Information

  • Community members are required to book indoor squash courts in advance. View the squash court schedule or book a court.
  • Squash players are to arrive in their match attire.
  • All players must leave the facility promptly after their session is complete.

Book an indoor squash court

Bookings for squash courts can be completed:

  • Online through activeOshawa Online. The next calendar day for bookings becomes available at midnight (12 a.m.)
  • In person by visiting the Civic Recreation Complex starting from 6 a.m. on Monday to Friday or starting 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Over the phone, call the Civic Recreation Complex as of 8:30 a.m.

Advance booking details for residents and membership holders

Outdoor tennis and pickleball court rentals

Outdoor court nets and posts are installed the second week in April with lights turning on the first week of May. Outdoor court nets and posts are removed the second week in November. Lights are turned off the last week in October. 

Staff follow the Council-approved Sport Field and Outdoor Court Allocation Policy to allocate time at outdoor courts.

Outdoor tennis courts

  • Outdoor tennis courts are available for use on a first come, first serve basis. View our outdoor tennis court locations.
  • Large groups (church groups, schools, recreation programs, sports groups and leagues) wanting exclusive use of the tennis courts are to contact the Facility Booking Office. An hourly fee of $5 will apply for community and non-profit groups and $22 for commercial groups, events and tournaments. An additional fee of $17 for lights will be charged when applicable based on the time of the booking.
  • When not in use by league or organizational play, courts are available at no charge, on a first-come, first-serve basis for individual play.

  • Evening bookings are charged a flat rate of $17 per day for lights.
  • Above rates are subject to H.S.T.

Outdoor pickleball courts

  • Outdoor pickleball courts are available for use on a first come, first serve basis. View our outdoor pickleball court locations.
  • Pickleball is a cross between tennis, table tennis and badminton played on a court slightly smaller than a tennis court with wooden paddles and a plastic whiffle ball. The object of the game is to hit the ball so that your opponent cannot hit it back over the net.

Please note that schedules may change on holidays, during special events or temporary closures.
