Street Naming
The City maintains a list of street names reserved for use in Oshawa and approves the addition of names to this list.
Street naming policy
The City of Oshawa Street Naming Policy sets out the guiding principles for naming and renaming streets in Oshawa. The policy outlines the process for adding street names to the street name reserve list, and how street names are assigned to new streets.
Honouring Oshawa’s war dead and war veterans
The City’s War Dead and War Veterans Street Naming Program honours the memory of men and women from Oshawa who served as part of Canada’s military in war or peacekeeping assignments.
The names of more than 90 war dead and war veterans have been used or assigned for use as street names in new subdivisions in the City of Oshawa.
Streets named in recognition of war dead and war veterans feature a poppy logo on the street sign.
Submit a nomination
Community members can nominate the names of family and friends for recognition through the war dead and war veteran's street naming program by submitting a completed nomination form to the City for consideration.
