Waterfront Trail Closure - Farewell Street and Harbour Road
Durham Region is rehabilitating Farewell St. and completing work on behalf of the City of Oshawa that includes a new north-south multi-use path along its east side.
Alongside these improvements, HOPA Ports is advancing its own infrastructure upgrades at the Port of Oshawa, focusing on construction of a new access way to the East Wharf port lands near the intersection of Farewell Street and Harbour Road.
What: The existing Waterfront Trail connection that travels east of Farewell St. and Harbour Rd. is now closed to allow for these projects. A new east-west trail connection will be constructed further north on Farewell St., and link Second Marsh to the new multi-use path on Farewell St.
When: While HOPA Ports’ construction activities are underway, the Farewell St. rehabilitation project is anticipated to begin later in 2025. Residents and visitors are asked to adhere to posted signage and use alternative routes during this period.
The new multi-use path and trail connection will improve trail connectivity, safety and access to Oshawa’s waterfront and natural areas, enhancing the experience for residents and visitors.
