There are number of options available through the City, including

Stay informed on cancellations and closures

During a heat alert, Recreation programs and facilities may be impacted including the Civic Dome and Playground Programs. 

Protect yourself and your family

Plan ahead on ways to stay cool and keep in touch with others who may not be able to stay cool, especially during a heat event.The Durham Region Health Department has implemented the Durham Region Heat Warning and Information System, to find information and resources to protect yourself and your family during heat events. 

Declared heat events

Community members are encouraged to check alerts and forecasts from Environment Canada and Durham Region Heat Warnings and to subscribe to receive the City’s Service Disruptions and Closures and Emergency/Severe Weather updates via email.
