Veterans Square (Downtown Urban Square) development located at the intersection of Bond St. E. and Simcoe St. N. is a unique focal point of downtown Oshawa, hosting community celebrations, events and concerts that appeal to both community members and visitors, bringing vitality and excitement into the downtown core.
Named ‘Veterans Square’ to pay tribute to Oshawa’s deep connection to Canada’s military history and proximity to the Colonel R.S. McLaughlin Armoury. The name, approved by City Council, also honours the service both past and present of local veterans.
Park features include decorative surfacing, accessible site furnishings, gardens with flowering shrubs, pollinator-friendly plants and shade trees, site lighting, a performance seating platform, a large shade structure, and Kaleidoscope, a sculpture by internationally exhibited Canadian artist Nicholas Crombach.
