Adopt a pet during National Adoption Week

Looking for a loyal companion? Oshawa Animal Services is partnering with PetSmart Charities of Canada® to help more pets find loving homes during National Adoption Week, taking place October 19 to 25, 2026.

Throughout the week, residents can meet adoptable kittens, cats and small animals at participating PetSmart locations and learn more about the adoption process from knowledgeable staff and volunteers.

Meet adoptable pets at local PetSmart stores

Visit Oshawa Animal Services at the following PetSmart locations:

• PetSmart Oshawa North – 891 Taunton Rd. E.
• PetSmart Ritson – 222 Ritson Rd. N., Unit 1

Potential adopters can spend time with the animals, ask questions and find the right pet for their household and lifestyle.

Why adopt?

Adopting a pet creates space in the shelter for other animals in need while giving a deserving animal a second chance at a happy life. In addition to providing companionship, pets can help reduce feelings of loneliness, encourage physical activity and support overall well-being. For families, pet ownership can also help children develop responsibility, empathy and compassion.
