Lakeview Park renewal project advances with final phase underway

The City is pleased to share that work on the Lakeview Park renewal project has met significant milestones and will continue this fall. 

The project includes replacing aging interlocking stone pathways with new asphalt surfaces, improving accessibility throughout the park, and completing grading and resurfacing work around various park buildings.

To date, accessibility upgrades at the Jubilee Pavilion and gazebo have been completed, along with the replacement of pathways throughout the western parkland and waterfront trail.

The third phase of construction began this week and will focus on the eastern portion of the park, including areas around the Oshawa Museum and the beachfront. 

Phase three includes:

• replacing existing interlocking pathways with new asphalt connecting the picnic shelter and gazebo from the north parking lot
• improving access to the beachfront washrooms with new concrete surfacing
• installing new benches throughout the park
• installation of asphalt surfacing for future portable washrooms in two locations

In addition, the two lookouts, gazebo, eastern beach front shade structure, and Mandela Point structure will undergo general upgrades, including necessary structural repairs.

The Lakeview Park renewal project is expected to be completed in late fall 2026. Residents and visitors may experience temporary disruptions during construction and are encouraged to follow posted signage and detours.

Lakeview Park is Oshawa’s largest park and a premier waterfront destination, attracting visitors from across Durham Region and beyond. The park features a beach, destination playground, splash pad, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, the Jubilee Pavilion, the Oshawa Museum, and a scenic recreational trail network.
