Pet Licences

The Responsible Pet Owners By-law states that all cats and dogs must have a licence in Oshawa. Licensing your pet will increase being reunited with your pet if they ever become lost. The City offers both lifetime and annual licences for pets. You can buy your licence online, by phone or in-person. 

Licensing your pet provides the following benefits:

• One free ride home each year if your pet strays from your property and is wearing their licence tag
• Contact if your pet gets injured while straying from home
• The ability for a community member who finds a stray pet to call Animal Services so the pet can be reunited with you

The following fees apply to dogs and cats.

Replacement Tags for all licence types are $5

Information required at time of purchase:

• Date of most recent rabies vaccination and expiry date of the vaccination. *Vaccines must be valid to purchase a licence.
• Microchip number (valid for lifetime licence only)
