Backflow Device

Apply for a backflow prevention device permit

Learn more about building permit requirements and fees. 

Please provide the following to get started:

• Building permit application
• Owner's authorization
• Permit fee (based on number of devices, minimum $155)
• Copy of Durham Region's cross connection survey (completed by Plumber on the Durham Region's list of qualified testers)
• Copy of the Manufacturer's form for sizing the expansion tank
• Copy of Durham Region's notice letter to install the device(s)
• Name of Plumber and Ontario College of Trades Membership Number
• Size and type of device

Please note:

• Devices 2-1/2 in and greater require engineered drawings and general review
• Additional information may be required during the review of submitted drawings and documents
• All backflow devices installed on fire systems require engineered drawings and general review regardless of size
