Businesses and Fiesta Pavilions open during roadworks projects on Simcoe St. S., Wilson Rd. S. and Park Rd. S.
Oshawa is experiencing some of the most significant transportation upgrades in its history – from the GO Train extension to the future widening of Highway 401, including new overpasses and major road improvements which will support the movement of people and goods across our City at the completion of these projects.
These projects, delivered by regional and provincial partners, will bring major benefits: better transit, safer roads, reduced congestion, and stronger connections across Durham Region and into the G.T.A. But during construction, they also bring detours, delays, and changes to how we move through the city.
What hasn’t changed is that local businesses in the impacted areas – including Simcoe St. S., Wilson Rd. S., Park Rd. S., as well as Bloor St. in these areas – remain open. Many of these businesses are small, family‑run, and deeply rooted in our community. They need our support now more than ever.
Let’s show them that Oshawa stands together. Choose local. Shop local. Support the businesses that contribute to our neighbourhoods and local economy. If you are participating in Fiesta Week (June 21-27), make sure to check out all the pavilions are follow detour signage, if needed.
