Durham Region Emancipation Day Celebration on August 5 in Oshawa

The City of Oshawa is proud to join the Region of Durham and municipal and community partners to recognize Emancipation Day 2026 on Wednesday, August 5 at Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park in Oshawa.

The theme for the 2026 free, family-friendly event is Forward Together: Freedom, Culture, Community. Residents are invited to come together for an afternoon of learning, reflection and community connection.

Explore the vendor market featuring food, art, products and services that show cultural diversity, creativity, and community connection. There will also be live performances, an African-themed fashion show, food trucks, youth and children’s activities and more.
