Get ready to vote, Oshawa

The 2026 Oshawa Municipal & School Board Elections kick off on Tuesday, October 13 with new voting options that make casting your ballot easier than ever.

Residents are encouraged to prepare now by confirming their voter information and watching for their Voter Information Letter (Letter) in the mail.

Your Voter Information Letter is your key to voting

To ensure your Letter is mailed to the correct address, confirm your voter information at oshawa.ca/VotersList.

Your Letter contains everything you need to vote, including:

  • instructions for accessing your online ballot;
  • your unique voter registration number;
  • your voting locations; and,
  • other important election information.

While visiting oshawa.ca/VotersList, residents can also find their ward and view the names of candidates.

If you have not received your Letter by Friday, October 9, your voter information may need to be updated. Visit oshawa.ca/VotersList to review your information or contact the Office of the City Clerk at 905-436-5369 or vote@oshawa.ca for assistance.

Vote your way

Once you receive your Letter, you can choose the voting method that works best for you:

  • Online voting anytime, anywhere on your own device between October 13 and 26; or,
  • At a Voter Assistance Centre (V.A.C.) for help voting online using a City-provided device (as per the Advance Voting V.A.C. Schedule and on Voting Day). Paper ballots will also be available on Voting Day (Monday, October 26).

Online Voting

New this year, internet voting allows you to cast your ballot safely and securely from wherever you are.

Online voting opens at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 13 and closes at 8 p.m. Monday, October 26.

Voters planning to vote online on Voting Day (October 26) must start the voting process no later than 6 p.m. to access the voting platform.

At a Voter Assistance Centre

Voter Assistance Centres (V.A.C.) are available throughout the city during the voting period. Visit:

  • any Advance Voting V.A.C. (as per the schedule) to vote online using a City-provided device; or,
  • a V.A.C. in your ward on Voting Day (October 26) to cast your vote between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. online using a City-provided device, or to cast a paper ballot.

Voters attending a V.A.C. should bring their Letter and a piece of I.D.!

Accessible Voting

The City of Oshawa is taking steps to identify, remove and prevent barriers for electors and candidates with a disability, including:

  • using an online voting platform designed with accessibility in mind;
  • ensuring accessible voting equipment is available;
  • permitting support persons and service animals in voting places to assist voters;
  • training Election Officials to deliver accessible service and provide tools/supplies to facilitate voting for persons with disabilities;
  • providing in-person voting opportunities to residents of Oshawa’s long-term care homes, retirement homes and additional care institutions.

Voters planning to use the accessible voting equipment on Voting Day can cast their ballot at City Hall, regardless of their ward.

The City’s 2026 Municipal & School Board Elections Accessibility Plan is available for review online.
