New TeachingCity temporary public art installed on the Joseph Kolodzie Oshawa Creek Bike Path
The City is excited to announce the installation of new temporary public art along the Joseph Kolodzie Oshawa Creek Bike Path.
Artworks were created by Durham College Fine Art students in the Community Collaboration course through the TeachingCity program and can now be seen on wayfinding signs along the trail. The artworks have been installed in time to highlight Recreation and Parks Month, which is an annual celebration that promotes the benefits of recreation and parks for physical, social and environmental health.
This TeachingCity project provides an opportunity for local students to showcase their artistic talent while celebrating Oshawa’s green spaces. Students toured the Joseph Kolodzie Oshawa Creek Bike Path to find inspiration and were then invited to submit proposals for this temporary installation to celebrate Oshawa’s Parks and Trail systems.
Surrounded by trees and wildlife, the Joseph Kolodzie Oshawa Creek Bike Path is a paved path that winds through the scenic Oshawa Creek valley. The Path can be accessed at:
- Bloor St. and Simcoe St.
- Brick by Brick Park
- Children’s Arena
- Erie Park
- Oshawa Valley Botanical Garden
- Lakeview Park
- Rotary Park
- Southmead Park
- Storie Park
- Kinsmen Park
Exhibited artworks were created by: Bryn Baker, Geneviève Pitt, Owen Macmillan, Regan Haina and Sean Barton.
