Now accepting nominations for the 2026 Municipal & School Board Elections

Eligible Electors interested in running in the 2026 Municipal & School Board Elections can now file a nomination paper for election to one of the following offices:

  • Mayor
  • Regional and City Councillor, Ward 1
  • Regional and City Councillor, Ward 2
  • Regional and City Councillor, Ward 3
  • Regional and City Councillor, Ward 4
  • Regional and City Councillor, Ward 5
  • City Councillor, Ward 1
  • City Councillor, Ward 2
  • City Councillor, Ward 3
  • City Councillor, Ward 4
  • City Councillor, Ward 5
  • Trustee, Durham District School Board
  • Trustee, Durham Catholic District School Board
  • Conseiller(ère), Conseil scolaire Viamonde
  • Conseiller(ère), Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir

Prospective candidates are encouraged to book an appointment online at calendar.oshawa.ca/Candidate, by telephone at 905-436-5639, or by email vote@oshawa.ca. Nomination papers must be filed in person by the candidate or their authorized agent at Oshawa City Hall (50 Centre St. S.), Office of the City Clerk, 1st Floor. Nomination papers will be accepted during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) between May 1 and August 20 and on Friday, August 21 between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Nomination Day).

Third Party Advertisers

Third parties intending to incur expenses to advertise in support or opposition of a candidate must register with the Office of the City Clerk as a Third Party Advertiser.

Prospective Third Party Advertisers can learn more about the filing process and requirements on the Third Party Advertiser webpage.

Registration for Third Party Advertisers will be accepted at Oshawa City Hall (50 Centre St. S.) Office of the City Clerk, 1st Floor during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) between May 1 and October 23.
