Online voting is underway in Oshawa
Internet voting for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections is open, and voters are encouraged to cast their ballot online. Please note that paper ballots are not available any day other than Voting Day (Monday, October 26).
Internet voting on a personal device
Online voting is available 24 hours a day throughout the voting period and can be completed using a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet access.
To cast a ballot online, voters must use the information in their Letter to complete their voter registration, which provides access to their voting PIN and the link to the secure voting website.
Note: Registration must be completed no later than 6 p.m. on Voting Day (Monday, October 26) to cast a ballot online.
Internet voting at a Voter Assistance Centre
Voter Assistance Centres (V.A.C.s) are available throughout the city during the voting period to assist voters. Voters may visit:
- any Advance Voting V.A.C. for help voting online on a City-provided device; or,
- a Voting Day V.A.C. in their ward for help voting online on a City-provided device, or to cast a paper ballot.
Voters attending a V.A.C. should bring their Letter, an acceptable piece of I.D. and either a phone to receive a text message or access to their email to receive their Voting PIN.
Voters who have not received their Letter, or who have misplaced it, can visit the V.A.C. at City Hall (50 Centre St. S.) during the advance voting period to receive a replacement Letter, or bring two pieces of I.D. with them to a V.A.C.
Paper ballots
Paper ballots can only be cast on Voting Day (Monday, October 26, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.) at any Voter Assistance Centre in their ward. Voters are reminded to bring their Letter and an acceptable piece of I.D. No Letter? Bring two pieces of I.D.
Voters who wish to vote by paper ballot on Voting Day but are unable to attend a Voter Assistance Centre in person may appoint a voting proxy to vote on their behalf.
Voting by Proxy
Proxy voting can only be completed with a paper ballot and as a result is only available on Voting Day (Monday, October 26).
To appoint a proxy, a voter must complete the Voters’ Form - Appointment of Voting Proxy (the Form). The Form must be picked up at the City Hall V.A.C. (50 Centre St. S.) completed, and then returned to City Hall for certification.
