Oshawa burn ban lifted

Community members are advised that the fire ban for burn permits issued on July 15, 2026, was lifted today by Oshawa Fire Services.

Oshawa Fire Services reminds residents that while the burn ban has been lifted, everyone must continue to follow the City’s Open Air Burning By-law.

Only those individuals with an approved fire permit respecting the Open Air Burning By-law are allowed to burn. All other burning is prohibited.

Open Air Burning By-law #73-2012

The City of Oshawa’s Open Air Burning By-law prohibits any fire located outside, whether burned in a container or on the ground. These include campfires, burn barrels, incinerators, construction site fires, fire pits, fire bowls, chimeneas, and outdoor wood-burning fireplaces.

Residents are reminded that burning solid fuel outdoors, including wood, is prohibited without a valid burn permit.

Under the by-law, the following devices are allowed: ULC/CSA/Warnock Hersey-approved propane or natural gas appliances, including barbecues, fire pits, and fire bowls, when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions and required clearances. Charcoal barbecues are also permitted.

Open air burn permits are available at Service Oshawa for owners with more than 10 acres of land north of Conlin Rd.
