Responsibilities:
- Lead technical and regulatory review processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, bylaws, Parks Development Design Standards, and other relevant policies, guidelines, and standards; ensuring landscape architectural content is correct, complete, or suitable for the intended purposes.
- Facilitate the development of landscape architectural designs and standards, including details, policies, and reports.
- Review and provide comment related to landscape architectural components for cross-department projects, as required.
- Provide design input for facility fits, conceptual design, and through detailed design, as it relates to development proposals and plan review for parks and trails planning and development.
- Play a leading role in the formulation of new policies, and amendments to existing policies, as they relate to landscape architectural components.
- Create and manage the computerized storage and filing system for plan review and comment tracking relating to parks and trails planning and development.
- Manage the administration and coordination of subdivision and site inspections, including conducting field visits, to ensure compliance with landscape architectural requirements and specifications related to site plan applications, landscape architectural submissions, engineering submissions, and cross-departmental projects.
- Provide and assist external consultants, contractors, developers and internal departments with technical questions or interpretations regarding parks, trails and open space standards.
- Maintain effective liaison with other departments, government agencies, consultants, contractors, and developers.
- Represent Capital Project Delivery at Council, standing committees, and advisory committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Completion of a four (4) year degree in Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, and a minimum of six (6) years of experience as a landscape architect, in parks planning, urban design, or development planning, preferably within a municipal environment, or equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as an unrestricted landscape architect with seal in a senior position; however, applicants with varying levels of experience are welcome to apply.
- Must have, a full membership seal and be a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA).
- Demonstrated ability to interpret plans, drawings, specifications, without error or supervision.
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of arboriculture practices is an asset.
- Ability to provide own transportation for travel between work locations as required.
This position is eligible for hybrid work.
