South Oshawa Pool reopens September 16 after reconstruction

The City is pleased to announce that after an extensive reconstruction project and essential repairs, the South Oshawa Community Centre (SOCC) Pool is set to reopen to the public on Wednesday, September 16.

The project included significant work to ensure the pool can operate safely and continue serving families, swimmers and aquatic program participants for years to come.

Join recreation staff Saturday, September 19 for a welcome back appreciation day with free leisure swims from 2:30 – 4 p.m. and 6:30 – 8 p.m. (first-come, first-served and subject to capacity limits) and light snacks and refreshments (while quantities last).

Free leisure swims for Oshawa residents

To thank residents and facility users for their patience during the closure, Oshawa City Council has approved free leisure swimming for Oshawa residents for the remainder of 2026. Leisure swims will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and will be subject to facility capacity limits.

Residents wishing to participate in the free swims will be required to present government-issued identification showing proof of Oshawa residency.

The leisure swimming schedule, admission requirements and pool rules are available at oshawa.ca/Swim.

Swim lessons and aquatic programs

Swimming lessons and aquatic programs will also return to the facility this fall. Programs at South Oshawa Pool will begin during the week of October 13, with registration opening at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29. Registration fees will apply; however, transfer fees will be waived until October 9 for residents who wish to move their swimming lessons or aquatic program registrations from another pool to the South Oshawa Pool.

Residents can register online through activeOshawa or in-person at the South Oshawa Community Centre, Civic Recreation Complex, Delpark Homes Centre and Donevan Recreation Complex. Residents are encouraged to complete the course registration form in advance to help speed up the registration process.
