Asset Management

Asset management is a process of making the best possible decisions regarding the contracting, operating, maintaining, renewing, replacing and disposing of infrastructure assets. It manages risks and opportunities, and helps use resources wisely while meeting the needs of the community.

Asset management plans look at the state of assets such as roads, bridges, buildings, vehicles, parks, trails, etc., levels of service, costs to maintain levels of service, risks associated with providing services and financial strategies.

Maintaining existing assets in a state of good repair and building new infrastructure which meets current and future needs is critical to the success of the City.

The City owns, operates and maintains $4.0 billion (estimated 2024 replacement cost) for all infrastructure which services the needs of residents, local business and visitors to the City. This Asset Management Plan (A.M.P.) includes all City owned assets.
