The Regional Municipality of Durham is responsible for all social services to all Durham municipalities, including Oshawa. The Durham Advisory Committee on Homelessness provides advice to Regional Council through the Health and Social Services Committee about homelessness issues.

A project with Lakeridge Health, Ontario Tech University and Durham College, the micro-homes pilot project in central Oshawa provides 10 units for temporary, transitional housing with support.

The Corporation is working with the Rogers Connected for Success program to offer high-speed internet access at a lower cost to people living in rent-subsidized non-profit housing.

The hepatitis C Team Program at Carea Community Health Centre assists community members at risk of acquiring, living with or affected by hepatitis C, including post-treatment.

Builds relationships with unsheltered people by providing practical services, like hygiene needs, food services and referrals to medical supports and housing assistance.

Help for community members behind in rent and at risk of eviction. In Oshawa, housing outreach workers and eviction prevention workers are available at the John Howard Society at 905-579-8482.

Mobile outreach services from paramedics and social workers to help vulnerable individuals connect with community supports.
